Homemade Korean strawberry milk is made with fresh chunks of strawberries & homemade strawberry syrup made of pureed strawberries. A favorite Korean drink made with fresh strawberries!
Here is a recipe for this delicious dish.
INGREDIENTS
2.5 cups strawberries - fresh or frozen can be used
0.5 cup sugar - use less if you prefer your drinks less sweet
1.5 cup fresh strawberries - cut into pieces, about 1 cm or ⅓ inch
4 cups any milk of choice (coconut milk will be fine)
INSTRUCTIONS
1.Puree the 1¼ cups of strawberries using a blender, food processor, or masher. If using frozen strawberries, you can thaw them a bit in the microwave or use a high speed blender.
2.In a small pot, add the strawberry puree, sugar, and a third of the cut strawberry pieces. Heat until it comes to a boil. Let it boil for 1 minute, turn off the heat, and let it cool on the counter or chill in the refrigerator.
(Note: You can opt to skip the boiling step but you need to consume this the day of making it. The puree will also be more thin and watery but will have more fresh strawberry flavor as it's not heated.)
3.Take two 16 ounce glasses and add half of the cooled strawberry puree and half of the remaining cut strawberry pieces into each glass. Swirl it up and around the glass to make a pattern. Next pour half of your milk of choice into each glass and serve immediately.
Optional: top with whipped cream.
This beverage is not only delicious, but also healthy.
Milk is a rich source of protein — providing approximately 1 gram of this nutrient in each fluid ounce (30 mL), or 8.14 grams in each cup (249 grams) (1Trusted Source). Proteins in milk can be divided into two groups based on their solubility in water: Both groups of milk proteins are considered to be of excellent quality, with a high proportion of essential amino acids and good digestibility.
Milk contains all the vitamins and minerals necessary to sustain growth and development in a young calf during its first months of life. It also provides almost every single nutrient needed by humans — making it one of the most nutritious foods available.
The following vitamins and minerals are found in particularly large amounts in milk:
Vitamin B12. Foods of animal origin are the only rich sources of this essential vitamin. Milk is very high in B12.
Calcium. Milk is not only one of the best dietary sources of calcium, but the calcium found in milk is also easily absorbed.
Riboflavin. Dairy products are the biggest source of riboflavin — also known as vitamin B2 — in the Western diet.
Phosphorus. Dairy products are a good source of phosphorus, a mineral that plays an essential role in many biological processes.
Eating strawberries can protect your heart, increase HDL (good) cholesterol, lower your blood pressure, and guard against cancer.
Packed with vitamins, fiber, and particularly high levels of antioxidants known as polyphenols, strawberries are a sodium-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, low-calorie food. They are among the top 20 fruits in antioxidant capacity and are a good source of manganese and potassium. Just one serving -- about eight strawberries -- provides more vitamin C than an orange.
