One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the famous Azure Window. This natural limestone arch, located near Dwejra Bay, was once one of the most iconic landmarks in Gozo before it tragically collapsed in 2017. Although the arch no longer stands, the views from the bay are still breathtaking. The crystal-clear waters and dramatic cliffs offer a perfect spot for a photo op or a relaxing day by the sea. We took a boat tour around the bay to fully appreciate the beauty of the landscape.

Opening Hours and Ticket Prices: Since the Azure Window is part of a natural area, it's free to visit. However, boat tours are available for around €10 per person, and they usually run from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Visiting the Citadel of Victoria

Next, we explored the Citadel of Victoria, the fortified city at the heart of Gozo. The Citadel offers stunning panoramic views of the entire island and is a wonderful spot to experience Gozo's history and culture. As we walked through its narrow streets, we marveled at the impressive walls, ancient buildings, and quaint cafes. The Citadel houses several museums, including the Gozo Museum of Archaeology, where we learned about the island's rich past and its connection to ancient civilizations.

Practical Tips for Visiting Gozo

Before visiting Gozo, we made sure to plan a few practical details. First, we recommend taking a ferry from Malta to Gozo. The ferry runs frequently, and the ride takes around 25 minutes, costing approximately €5 each way. If you want to explore the island thoroughly, renting a scooter or a car is a great option, as public transportation can be limited in some areas. Gozo is known for its beautiful beaches, so don't forget to pack sunscreen, a hat, and swimwear.
