Lykkers, if we are planning a trip near Dushanbe, the Hisor Fortress Complex is an unmissable destination.
Located just 18 kilometers west of the capital, in the Hisar Valley, this historical site spans over 3,000 years and offers both cultural depth and stunning scenery.
Surrounded by the Hisar, Gazimalyk, and Babatag mountains, the valley views are breathtaking, making it a perfect combination of history and nature.

History of the Fortress

Hisor Fortress dates back to ancient times when the region was part of the Bactrian civilization, later influenced by the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom and the Kushan Empire. By the Middle Ages, Hisor became a thriving city known for crafts, markets, and defensive importance.
In the 18th–19th centuries, it was recognized as Hisor Bekdom, one of 28 territories of the Bukhara Emirate. The fortress served as a key administrative and defense center, and today it has been preserved as an open-air museum, giving us a direct glimpse into history.
